About That Leather Guy

Our Company

That Leather Guy is Todd Earle, who has been in the leather and vinyl repair business in the Twin Cities area since 1980.  Over that time, he has become widely known and respected for his high level of skill, technical experience and great expertise on the subject of leather.

Within the Twin Cities market, Mr. Earle acts in multiple capacities, servicing leather furnishings that run the gamut from the sofa in the living room to the chairs in the corporate board room - and even the corporate jet! Across the board, the furniture trade - furniture manufacturers, transport companies, retail stores, extended warranty providers, interior designers - all utilize his expertise as a consultant, a technician and for independent inspection services.  He has also conducted "Leather 101" workshops for retail furniture store personnel.

A Little History

In 1982, Mr. Earle took his independent business to a new level when he became a franchisee of Edina-based Color Glo International, Inc. (CGI), and has done business under the name of Color Glo International of the Twin Cities.  Because of his close proximity to the company headquarters, he has been involved in research and development of Color Glo products for leather furniture repair, as well as the training of technicians from across the United States and from various countries around the world.

In 2001, his long-time contributions to the company won him the high honor of Color Glo International's Everett Smith Award, which is given to the franchisee "who best exemplifies characteristics of loyalty, trustworthiness, personal courage, excellent customer relations and corporate friendship."

In 2004, Color Glo International teamed up with Aero Interior Maintenance (AIM), a company based in Wichita, Kansas.   The two companies worked together to produce a line of FAA-approved materials for use in refurbishing aircraft and their teamwork produced the first mobile FAA-certified repair station of its kind in the industry.

In 2005, Mr. Earle expanded the scope of his business to include the commercial and business aviation markets.   He holds FAA licensure and can offer clients an 8130-3 Return to Service or logbook entry on the work performed on aircraft.  All products used by That Leather Guy in servicing aircraft are compliant with Federal Aviation Regulations and have been proven not to add flammability to any aircraft interior surfaces.  Click here for more information on services for aircraft.

What Our Customers Say About Us

Unfortunately, our move to MN included scuffs on our brand new leather furniture as well as a snag at the seam. Of course, all damage were in places that were highly visible.

Todd Earle arrived exactly on time and did repairs that were beyond EXCEPTIONAL. He included his wife, a professional seamstress, to repair the awful snag

We are still in awe over their professional expertise, craftsmanship and genuine kindness. In addition, he was able to give us an estimate, prior to arrival, that was on target

We so appreciate Todd and Julia Earle. Dodie G

I have been an owner of a contemporary furniture store for 41 years. Throughout the year we have sold thousands and thousands of leather furniture including chairs, recliners, sofas, sectionals, etc. There is only one person that I have found that consistently provided us with state of the art service in repairing damaged leather furniture. Todd is "THE MAN" to "GO TO" for any leather repair, no matter how big or small the job is. His top quality work is like none other. He is an artist at what he does. He is quick to show up and meticulous in his work, such that if you did not know where the damage was, you would not find it once Todd did his magic. I highly recommend Todd for any type of leather repair work that you may need. He is truly a professional!!

Rosie at Rosenthal Furniture

"We have a large Stickley, tufted, leather ottoman which had faded to a pale shade of ugly. 'That Leather Guy', Todd Earle, enriched the color of the piece so it's now lovelier than when it was new. When color became a concern, Todd even included his lovely wife in the process. She has a discerning eye and helped guide us in the right direction.

Todd Earle's workmanship and customer service far exceeded our expectation!"

Jerry & Lani B., Woodbury, MN

"I just wanted to thank you, once again, for doing such a nice job on re-coloring our sofa. It looks really beautiful!

I have given your name to a few of my friends. I'm sure they will be calling soon.

It was nice to have met you. Hope your business continues to flourish."

Danette Smith, Minnetrista, MN

"Just wanted to thank you for the high quality and professional job you did today. You are a true craftsman!

It is so rare these days (in my experience anyway) that a business provides service and quality at the level you deliver. You were prompt in returning my emails and phone calls; scheduled a mutually agreeable time frame for the appointment; quoted and gave me a fair price for the work; finished your work in a timely manner; put everything back in its place (very clean and neat); and delivered a quality final product/service.

Thanks again, it's always a pleasure doing business with you!"

B.A., Coon Rapids, MN

"Recently I was on a flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis. I happened to be seated next to a gentleman who is in the furniture business in Florida and locally. As the conversation traveled from subject to subject, we arrived at the topic of furniture/leather repair. To my surprise we learned that we had something in common…we both knew Todd Earle! I showed him Todd's business card I had tucked into my purse. He then confirmed what I long had believed when he replied, "Todd Earle is the best in the business!" He added that there was no finer reputation for leather repair in the Twin Cities!"

Kathy W., Plymouth, MN

"We found our dealings with Todd to be absolutely top-notch, with the services delivered exceeding expectations. Todd repaired our leather pieces, which were purchased with scuffs and small gouges from the "clearance" department, to the point that the problems are now invisible. He worked directly with the furniture store, repairing the pieces on their premises, so as to render us the highest level of convenience. Communication was excellent, and pricing was reasonable. We would not hesitate to use employ Todd again, or to refer him to anyone needing similar services. And, he's a heckuva nice guy to boot!"

S. R., Golden Valley, MN

"My new leather furniture was damaged by careless vacuuming by a cleaning company. I didn't think that my furniture would ever look new again. I called the furniture store I purchased it from and they referred me to Todd Earle from Color Glo International of the Twin Cities. Todd did an excellent job and made my furniture look brand new within a couple of hours!"

K. R., St. Paul, MN

"Todd Earle is an artist. Furniture Minnesota and Todd Earle have worked together since the mid-Eighties. Always professional and we are extremely happy with the quality of his work. Customers also like him and tell us so. I cannot imagine running our business without him."

Stephen Katainen, Owner of Furniture Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota

"That Leather Guy" is THE Leather Guy! I had damaged a new, beautiful, dark brown, high grade leather sofa with Lysol spray; it lifted the color. Todd Earle did an excellent job. He was prompt, professional, confirmed the appointment the night before, and did a fantastic job.

I would not hesitate to recommend his work, or use him again for any leather repair needs.

"All I can say is WOW! This guy is a Leather Artist!!! We are in awe of the job he did; he is meticulous! I watched the entire process, and it is quite impressive! He is incredibly thorough, and takes complete ownership of the job! Todd is the guru you need for any and all leather repair; believe it! Todd also educated me on the care of leather, what kind of leather to buy, etc. You seriously cannot tell our leather couch was ever worn or damaged. It looks brand new!! Call "That Leather Guy" if you want it done perfectly/professionally/correctly! We are so impressed. I almost forgot to mention what a NICE guy he is!! Thank you, Todd Earle!!!!
